Activated charcoal powder is "charcoal that has been heated or otherwise treated to increase its absorptive power".
A 100% natural remedy with so many uses, our activated charcoal is processed from fresh local coconut shells from Western Region of Ghana. This type of coconut is green in colour. The shell is dried and the process can take 1 month or more depending on the weather.

You probably ask – what is the difference between normal charcoal and activated charcoal. Well, apart from the difference in materials, processing and usage, normal charcoal sticks to the tongue. Activated charcoal can be difficult to rinse off. This is my personal observation!
There are so many uses for activated charcoal including water filtration, teeth cleaning, oil pulling with coconut oil.
As a mask for oily skin, mix ½ part activated charcoal + ½ part rhassoul clay with some warm water +/- fresh lemon juice. You can also use bentonite clay.
As a poultice, mix ½ part activated charcoal & 3 parts bentonite clay with some warm water +/- fresh lemon juice.

For soapmaking, try experimenting with ¼ tsp of activated charcoal for every 500g of fat/oils. You will need to increase the percentage of your fragrance when adding activated charcoal to your formula.
