Type 4 hair is often described as coily or kinky—it's naturally dry and spongy in texture, and can range from soft and fine to thick and coarse. Type 4 hair features tightly coiled curls with a distinct "S" pattern. The curls are small in diameter and have a springy, bouncy texture.
