Back to School? Your New 5-Minute Curly Hair Routine Is Here

Back to School? Your New 5-Minute Curly Hair Routine Is Here

September is here, and you know what that means… It’s back to school for all you teachers and students.

No more hitting the snooze button. You've got class in an hour, and your summer curly hair routine might not cut it.

But don't worry, with the right curly hair products, we'll have you looking put-together in approximately... checks phone ...five minutes.

Why You Only Need Five Minutes

Time is precious. Sure, if you wake up early, you have time for 30 plus minutes but there will be days when you’re in a rush, when your brother has hogged the shower so you’re already running late, but don’t worry, we won’t have you looking a state because you spent only 5 minutes on your curl routine.

So here's the thing: a great curly hair routine doesn't need to be time-consuming. They need the right routine.

Three Words - Strong Hold Gel

If you have styled your hair the day before with strong hold gel and I mean the strength of a baby’s grip then there’s no chance you're not getting curl definition the next day (unless you sleep crazily - don’t worry we’ve got a solution for that too.)

So wash your hair the day before and style it with strong hold gel, so the next morning all you need is a spray bottle to refresh your frizzies.

Note you don’t need to re-add gel to your hair every day as a bit of water and/or leave-in should be enough to refresh.

Sleep with Silk or Satin

Sleeping without your hair protected is always a risk, either sleep with a silk/satin pillow case or just a bonnet or double up.

Sometimes I even add my Kitsch Satin Petite Scrunchies

Make sure to shake your hair in the morning, as our hair can mould to our bonnets.

And again, use a spray bottle to spray your hair with water for all the pieces that you might have slept on.

The 5 Minute Curl Routine

Step 1 - Wake up, take your bonnet off, and assess the situation.

Step 2 - find a spray bottle to revive your sleepy hair for more tired curls make sure to also use leave-in conditioner.

Step 3 - start by spraying the perimeter of your hair but if hair does not revive, then spray until whole head is damp. If dripping, scrunch dry with a t-shirt or microfibre towel (because who wants to go to school with dripping hair)

Step 4 - finger curl your difficult areas

Step 5 - accessorise appropriately and clip away any flyaways.

Your Essential 5-Minute Curly Hair Products

If All Else Fails, Accessorise

Sometimes, you can have all the right products and repeat a very successful routine that you’ve tried a hundred times, only for everything to go wrong. Bad hair days are real, but rather than letting a bad hair day ruin your day. Let a few cute accessories save your hairstyle.

Personally, I love doing a half-up up half-down with either a black Invisibobble or black satin scrunchie. And plain headbands were my saving grace in school.

Final Thoughts

Back to school doesn't have to mean back-to-back bad hair days, nor should you risk lateness for the perfect look.

With the right curly hair products and a streamlined routine, you can have your curls looking their best in just 5 minutes.
